Food Festival 2011

Thousands of people enjoyed free events, money-off deals and fantastic giveaways at this year’s Waterloo Quarter Food Festival, including: 302 free coffees - thanks to Greensmiths and Barbarellas; 983 brownies for just £1 - thanks to a special offer from Konditor & Cook; 360 free bottles of Hopper soft brew - given away as part of the BIG Summer Picnic on Millennium Green; 270 burgers flipped and served between Jack’s Lounge and The Stage Door.

The programme of free events was expanded this year as more venues took the opportunity to publicise themselves through the festival – the Indian Summer Barbecue from newcomers to the festival – Bangalore Express – was a big hit and the Stage Door finished the events programme off in style with a rock and cider- fuelled burger night on Emma Cons Gardens. Eden Catering took part in the Festival for the first time this year. Hugh Walker, Managing Director, said: ‘Bangers and mustard mash with onion gravy served on bamboo boats washed down with home-made Elderflower Presse proved to be a classic, simple and dc`very popular offering for our first time appearance at the launch event. We gave away 160 portions to raise awareness that we are in Waterloo and that we prefer to serve local clients. We have received enquiries for catering work directly as a result.’
