The Winners Are Revealed!

WATERLOO Quarter's Business In The Big Top project came to a dramatic end as it emerged the victorious Clowns raised almost £250 for a good cause.

The Clowns - a collective of volunteers from Oasis Trust and Solar Century - won the scheme after they competed against three other teams in a circus inspired business challenge.

Like the Strong People, Magicians and Jugglers, The Clowns had been tasked with devising and running a market stall on Emma Cons Gardens during a frenzied 90 minute lunchtime in November.

As the teams were all made up of volunteers from one business and one charity, it was decided that the stalls would be used to raise money for the charity element of each team.

Waterloo Quarter also agreed to match fund The Clowns winning £244.66, meaning the total amount raised for good causes broke the £1,000 barrier.

The Clowns' victory was recognised at an event at Spectrecom on Thursday, December 16, which saw a film of the planning and market played back to the teams.

The following awards were also handed out:

- Best Community Engagement - The Clowns (Oasis Trust and Solar Century)

- Best Presentation - The Strong People (Black Architecture and Choice Support)

- Best Innovation - The Magicians (Wolters Kluwer and The Fostering Network)

- Best Teamwork - The Jugglers (Berkeley Residential Management and Groundwork)

- Outstanding Commitment To The Local Community (Spectrecom)

The event also launched Waterloo Quarter's new Corporate Social Responsibility programme, and more details of this project will appear on this website soon.
