The Food Festival event celebrates the area’s gastronomic delights, bringing together the local cafes, pubs, bars, restaurants and food shops to organise special events and contribute special offers and prizes for potential customers. The Festival aims to bring more people to spend time in the area, to raise the profile of participating businesses and to attract new customers through their door.
The first Food Festival took place in June 2009. 6,000 ‘gastro-passports’, featuring details of all of the events and special offers were distributed locally to Waterloo-based oragnisations and their staff as well as to local residents. Feedback for the event was extremely positive with several participating businesses reporting busy events and new customers. The Food Festival 2010 looks set to be bigger and better than before, taking place over a month period to allow more businesses to make the most of the promotional opportunity and more potential customers to explore the area.
