Winter hanging baskets | Print |  E-mail

All the winter hanging baskets in Waterloo have been organised and funded by WQBA. There is a programme of expanding this to most of the main road frontages in the Lambeth part of the area at present. There will be a total of 77 lamp posts (with 154 baskets) in Baylis Road, The Cut, Kennington Road, Lower Marsh, Waterloo Road and Westminster Bridge Road. Initial cost of the brackets and baskets for the current programme is around £12,500. The annual cost of maintaining the full display would be about £16,000. Lambeth Council may have a budget next year to fund a part of the summer display when the full effect of the baskets can be seen.

This is part of a series of works designed to make the whole area more attractive and encourage everyone to use it more all year round. If we win the ballot we hope to extend this to cover all available locations on the main roads. We then plan to extend the BID into Southwark and the baskets on down the rest of The Cut and  Waterloo Road.
