Waterloo Carnival 2008 (All Day)
The 5th annual
Waterloo
Carnival is set to be the biggest celebration yet. On Friday 11th July, Lower Marsh,
Waterloo
will be turning into the Yellow Brick Road for this years Wizard of Oz theme.
Witches and Munchkins will join together in harmony for one day for the Carnival festivities, which include the renowned street procession, live music, Witches Tea Party and a themed street market. In the evening, a music and cabaret stage in The Emerald City will feature live performances from a variety of professional artists and local community groups.
The full schedule for the day is as follows:
12pm – 6pm – Munchkinland at the eastern end of Lower Marsh with a music stage and interactive Wizard of Oz themed market stalls and street performers. Mini munchkin museums with
Imperial
War
Museum
, the
Museum
of
Garden History
and the
Florence
Nightingale
Museum.

1.30 – 2pm – Carnival Procession featuring over 300 performers, travelling along the length of Lower Marsh, down Westminster Bridge Road and Baylis Road
, finishing on Millennium Green.
1pm – 5pm – Witches & Munchkins Family Friendly Zone on Millennium Green, featuring a mini-Munchkins play area, a Witches Tea Party, kids disco, live Latin band and school performances.
6pm – 10pm - The Emerald City at the western end of Lower Marsh, featuring the ‘If I only had a brain’ pub quiz, and a music & cabaret stage hosted by Timberlina, The Emerald Queen, with performances from professional artists and local community groups. Bars located in the area will also be opening later to continue the festivities into the evening.
