A revised planning application has been submitted for Emma Cons Gardens opposite the Old Vic by the developers of the neighbouring Mercury House. The design comprises a planted area with curved seating, new trees and an outdoor dining area outside the restaurant. A previous design, which included a large kiosk for theatre ticket sales and cafe-style seating has been withdrawn.
Waterloo Quarter is in favour of the proposals to redevelop the Gardens, subject to concerns regarding pedestrian access to The Cut and clarity over the future management of the space being addressed.
The proposals can be viewed on the Lambeth Planning public access database at www.lambeth.gov.uk The application reference is 08/02365/FUL
