As you may have noticed, this year’s Waterloo Quarter Christmas lights have been installed and will be brightening up the local area. Following the successful extension of the Waterloo Quarter BID across into Southwark back in April 2008, the Christmas lights, which in previous years were forced to stop at the borough boundary half way along The Cut, now stretch along the full length of the street and down Blackfriars Road.
New star designs have been introduced at the main thoroughfares of Blackfriars Road and Waterloo Road, while Lower Marsh, Baylis Road, Kennington Road and The Cut have been decorated with the existing sparkly blue lights. The lights will be switched on on Monday 1st December and will continue to be on into the New Year. To the right is a mock-up of how the new lights will look.
A contribution was gratefully received from South Bank Employer's Group towards the installation and maintenance of the lights. |
