Describe everywoman? everywoman is an organisation that challenges and changes the mind-sets of women in business to increase the number and raise the status of women in the economic community.
What’s been your biggest achievement to date? Receiving an MBE for services to women’s enterprise in 2009 was lovely recognition for the work my Co-Founder Maxine and I have done in this area for the past 12 years. And launching the Modern Muse Project last November was a defining moment for everywoman. The goal of the Modern Muse project is to inspire and encourage one million young women and girls into the world of business.
How does everywoman support female entrepreneurs? everywoman.com is a hub of activity with over 40,000 members connecting online to offer support, promote their own businesses or share career advice. The success stories from the NatWest everywoman Awards are particularly inspirational to other women - these stories are powerful reminders that anything is possible.
Do you have any celebrity patrons etc? We aim to connect with women who’ve achieved business success and some of these have also gained celebrity status. Our Patron is Dame Mary Perkins, the founder of Specsavers, who we think is one of the UK’s greatest female entrepreneurs. Over the years we’ve recognised women such as Elle Macpherson, Karren Brady and Jo Malone for their contribution to enterprise.
What’s the best thing about the job? Experiencing first hand how our talent and performance programmes change lives. We have a motto – give us 10 women and we’ll give you 10 great female leaders. We’ve seen so many women push past their own sometimes limiting boundaries to reach excellence.
What’s the best thing about Waterloo? The Cut and Lower Marsh have a great range of restaurants, bars and cafes. The team here love the ‘two for one’ cocktails at The Waterloo Bar and Grill, which is almost our second home and we all enjoy the community spirit here that you don’t get in other parts of central London.
