Business Advice On Mental Health

Business Advice From Inclusive Employers

Mental health charity Mind estimates 1 in 6 British workers are affected by conditions like anxiety, depression and stress every year.

But these issues are still taboo, especially at work. It is not done to talk about feelings, and those who are most at risk find it particularly hard: suicide is the leading cause of death among young men.

As employers we have a responsibility to build healthy workplaces. So what are the signs of depression?*

• Changes in mood
• Feelings of hopelessness and depression
• Difficulty in making decisions
• Irregular sleep
• Decreased energy
• Tearfulness
• Feelings of guilt and worthlessness
• Restlessness
• Thoughts of death and suicide
• Appetite and weight loss
• Persistent sad, anxious or empty mood
• Insomnia
