Businesses Attend Employ SE1 Launch

SOUTHWARK Council leader Peter John and Phil Reed MBE from HMS Belfast spoke of the benefits of employing locally and the bank of well qualified, motivated local residents available for work at the launch of a new employment initiative.

Employ SE1 is run by SE1’s three Business Improvement Districts and aims to get more people into local jobs. It includes a local employer accord, a charter mark for providers and a series of resources for employers, including a brokerage website and a register of agencies.

Waterloo based business Go-Ahead London has already signed up to the employer accord, committing to advertising job opportunities for bus drivers to local residents.

Keith Wood, Resources Manager from Go-Ahead London, said: "Employ SE1 has made a whole new pool of local candidates available to us for bus driver positions. The candidates arrive screened and briefed on what to expect from the position, saving us time in the recruitment process.â€
