| Food Glorious Food - New Collections |

A DOZEN Waterloo businesses have signed up to a food waste collection pilot organised by Waterloo Quarter BID. Six offices, five gastro pubs and one florist have agreed to act as test cases for the nine month trial, which could lead to permanent food waste collections across the whole of the BID area. The pilot scheme has been launched using funding from the European Regional Development Fund. State of the Art technology will ensure the collections – which can include plate scrapings, peelings, meat, green waste and even human hair – are disposed of responsibly at a processing facility in Mitcham. The BID already runs twice weekly recycling collections, general waste collections and glass collections.
