Number of employees in Waterloo: “About 30. It’s our UK headquarters and we have been here for about three-and-a-half years.” Tell us about Raleigh: “We are a youth and education charity which specialises in the leadership and soft skills development of young people from all backgrounds.” What do you think Raleigh is best known for? “Our expeditions which comprise of an adventure challenge and community and environmental projects which take place in remote marginalised communities overseas.” What is the purpose of the expeditions you run? “They are about changing young people and encouraging them to become global citizens.” How many people are involved with Raleigh: “We have about 400 volunteers in the UK and send 1,200 people overseas each year. All of the expeditions are directed by our full time staff in the field and facilitated by volunteers aged from 25 to 75. Those volunteers are often on career breaks and they get as much, if not more, out of the expeditions as the young people.” Tell us a little known fact about yourself: “I used to go to school at Notre Dame in Waterloo.
