Bad News for Bacteria

Bacteria, bad smells and dumped rubbish are all being combated by a new Waterloo Quarter BID cleaning initiative.

We have commissioned Community Clean to carry out deep cleans of grot spots which bring down the area and make it less attractive to potential customers and visitors.

Community Clean have more than a decade of experience in dealing with mess, and have previously worked on the area surrounding Wembley Stadium.

The new cleansing operations – which are in addition to existing council and Waterloo Quarter services – began in mid August.

Crews are going out to spots which have traditionally attracted litter, graffiti and anti-social behaviour and cleaning them with high powered spray guns.

They are also leaving previously whiffy streets with a cherry scent by using deodorisers and bio-inhibitors which prevent bacteria returning to pavements.

The visits take place at least once a week, and already results have been seen in Granby Place, off Lower Marsh, and in Spur Road, between Waterloo station and Lower Marsh.

The existing Waterloo Quarter graffiti hotline, which allows businesses to call for FREE graffiti removal, will continue to run on the same number 020 7620 1309.

Katie Lindsay, Environment and Public Realm Project Manager at Waterloo Quarter BID, said: “Since the BID started vast swathes of Waterloo have had a makeover to be proud of. This service adds to the work already done and has tangible benefits to the area.”

++Waterloo Quarter BID also launched a FREE ad-hoc doorway cleaning service in August. If you arrive at work and find things are not as clean as they should be, give us a call on 020 7620 1201 and we will get the area tidied up and smelling fresh.
