Thank You – film producer praises Lower Marsh

WATERLOO businesses have been thanked for their help during the filming of a major new movie.

Parts of One Day were shot in and around Cubana in Lower Marsh on Monday, July 19 and Tuesday, July 20.

The movie is a joint Random House / Focus Features production, is co-financed by Film4 and stars Academy Award nominee Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada, Becoming Jane) and Jim Sturgess (The Other Boleyn Girl).

It tells the story of working class girl Emma (Hathaway) and wealthy charmer Dexter (Sturgess) who meet on the night of their graduation, July 15, 1988.

The cameras return to the pair every July 15 over the next two decades, and audiences have been promised a mixture of laughter, romance, heartbreak and exhilaration.

More filming is due to take place in Edinburgh, Paris and on the Brittany coast as well as at other undisclosed London locations.

Jane Frazer, co-producer, said: “We've had enormous support from the local area and it's been a wonderfully trouble-free location to shoot in - thank you very much."

Supervising location manager Jonah Coombes added: "It's great to have had the opportunity to feature such a colourful and vibrant part of central London which so perfectly sums up the character of the film."

One Day, which is based on the novel of the same name by David Nicholls, is expected to be released in cinemas in the third quarter of 2011.
