Creative In-Tent update

A gorilla, inflatable bananas and a palm tree have been spotted in Millennium Green over the past two weeks thanks to a Waterloo Quarter BID art initiative.

Creative In-Tent aims to encourage local employees to improve their work life balance by asking them to take part in a relaxing activity during their lunch hours.

Participants are encouraged to pick up a range of art materials in order to sketch a group of live models in the green area, which sits by the Old Vic.

Artists of all standards have painted the models and jungle themed still life images using materials stored in a bell tent on the green.

Creative In-Tent events took place on Tuesday, June 29 and Tuesday, July 6, with a final drop-in session planned for 12.30pm to 2.30pm on Tuesday, July 13.

Artist Tim Redfern has been on hand to help all budding illustrators, and every piece of artwork will be displayed in the garden of The Walrus in Lower Marsh at the Waterloo Carnival on the evening of Friday, July 16.

Judges will consider an online vote of people’s favourite artworks at www.facebook.com/waterloocarnival before choosing a winner, who will pick up a bottle of bubbly.

Creative In-Tent has been made possible by funding from the Department of Work and Pensions as part of Waterloo Quarter BID’s Packed Lunch project.
