| End of Dispersal Zone in Waterloo |
|
The Dispersal Zone was introduced under Section 30 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 for a six month period beginning in January 2009. The initiative was introduced to target problem areas to help remove anti-social behaviour from the streets and, in certain circumstances, to allow groups to be dispersed when their behaviour has resulted or is likely to result in a member of the public being harassed, intimidated, alarmed or distressed. ![]() The zone was re-introduced for a further 6 months from Friday 14th August, to Tuesday 16th February 2010. The zone was reviewed and due to a decrease in the number of dispersals in the area, it was decided that the Waterloo dispersal zone would not be renewed for a further 6 months. The Borough wide Controlled Drinking Zone has been tackling many of the problems the Dispersal Zone was introduced to address, as many of the instances involved alcohol. The controlled drinking zone is in effect across all public spaces in the London borough of Lambeth and is intended to deal with alcohol related anti-social behaviour. The police and Community Support Officers have the power to require a person to stop drinking and are able to confiscate alcohol. Failure to comply with an officer's request could result in arrest and/or a fine. If you need to report any anti-social behaviour from noise nuisance, hate crime, to dangerous dogs, Lambeth Council have an Anti-Social Behaviour line. If you do not wish to leave your details you can report anonymously. The line is available weekdays 9am to 6pm, please contact 020 7926 4000.
