Mayor's Cycle Hire Scheme

As part of the Mayor’s Cycle Hire scheme for London, which is being delivered by Transport for London, a second docking station for Lower Marsh has been given planning approval by Lambeth Council. This is in addition to the docking station in the car park in front of Cubana,at the junction of Lower Marsh and Baylis Road.

The site of this docking station is on the highway in front of 1-5 Lower Marsh and will comprise 17 cycle docking points laid out in a single linear row.

As part of the planning consultation process, Waterloo Quarter submitted an objection to this application as it was felt that this was not a suitable location. The reasons for the objection were that the carriageway is too narrow to accommodate the docking station and it would also require the removal of three permit only parking bays, which were considered important for market traders.

The application and any comments submitted were considered by the planning team at Lambeth and it was decided that the scheme should receive planning approval.
