2010 Revaluation

All businesses have recently received a letter outlining how Waterloo Quarter can help support BID businesses to reduce their business rate bills.

Slide 1

New Draft 2010 Rateable Values have recently been published and will apply from 1st April 2010 for a period of 5 years. Your new Rateable Value is based upon the estimated rental value of your property on 1st April 2008.

Rateable values in Waterloo in Waterloo have risen considerably and we are concerned about the potential impact on local businesses in the Waterloo Quarter BID area. We strongly suggest that you get your assessment checked out by a Chartered Surveyor to help ensure that your rates bills over the next five years are kept as low as possible. You only have one opportunity to appeal and therefore it is vital that you get good quality advice as to whether to lodge an appeal or not.

If you are considering appealing, Waterloo Quarter BID has been working closely with Farebrother Chartered Surveyors’ Rating Team on rateable values in the Waterloo area and the best way for businesses to appeal. We have negotiated with Farebrother that they will work on a ‘no savings, no fee’ basis for members of the Waterloo Quarter BID at a discounted fee rate.

Contact either Malcolm Brackley (mbrackley@farebrother.net or 020 7855 3566) or Jeff Norris (jnorris@farebrother.net or 020 7855 3593) at Farebrother to see what potential there is in lodging an appeal against your assessment, stating that you are based in the Waterloo Quarter BID area. To find out more about them, visit www.ratesmadesimple.com.

Waterloo Quarter would be happy to help you to prepare information that is required for the assessment.
