| Christmas Forest |
This Christmas, in addition to the event, the BID is looking to host an art installation in Emma Cons Gardens for the duration of the festive period and into the New Year. The installation, named ‘Forest’ will see 25 pencil cypress trees planted in the space with mirrors at right angles either side to produce a repetitive image when standing inside and giving the impression of being in the middle of a vast forest within central London. The Forest installation will provide a temporary high quality, artistic display in Emma Cons Gardens, which will attract visitors to the area and generate media interest. It is hoped that the installation will demonstrate the need for a speedy renovation of the space located at the heart of Waterloo, and to provide an attractive welcome to visitors to the area.
Temporary planning permission has been applied for which includes a management plan to address potential issues surrounding the maintenance of the installation, and we await approval with a view to install the Forest by the beginning of December. If successful, there will be an opportunity for local businesses to sponsor the Forest and appear listed on the end panels of the mirror.
