Waterloo Carnival 2009
Friday 10th July saw the sixth annual Waterloo Carnival take place, attracting a variety of creatures from outer space! The alien-themed event included the spectacular street procession with children from Johanna Primary School, as well as other local organisations and senior groups, all dressed in an array of space costumes. In the evening the festivities continued with live music outside Cubana and a variety show hosted by Space Queen, Timberlina, in The Walrus garden on Lower Marsh. The events attracted a crowds of people to Waterloo, made up of local workers and residents as well as passers-by. It is hoped that through events like the Carnival that we are to raise awareness of the shopping, eating and drinking opportunities in the area. This year’s event was organised by Friends of Waterloo Carnival, sponsored by Waterloo Quarter, BFI, Joanna Primary School, The London Eye, Coin Street, Bankside Open Spaces Trust, Shell, Cubana and The Walrus.
