KMK Architects
KMK Architects are based in the famous parade of Lambeth Walk SE11, which forms part of the Old Lambeth Walk Development Trust.   They have become Waterloo Quarter's newest affiliate members.

KMK's two directors – Mike Kane and Fawzia Muradali Kane – formed KMK after working in separate architectural practices. Their current workload is a mix of residential, offices and community spaces. The broad scope of clients varies from houses for famous actors, fit-outs for call centres to night hostels for the homeless.
The practice was included in the Architecture Foundation's book "New Architects 2: A guide for Britain's best young architectural practices" (Merrell).   Although KMK has experience working with listed buildings, they do not consider themselves "conservation architects". Fawzia explains, " Our approach to architecture and building is 'progressive' with a respect for the existing.”   The practice is actively involved in competitions on a regular basis, as they see this as a way of continually developing and refining their approach to architecture.   In 2005, KMK Architects' design for nearby Pocock Street SE1 won a limited competition, after being shortlisted with 15 other small to medium sized firms, to create new homes as part of the Elephant and Castle Regeneration scheme re-housing residents of the Heygate Estate.
Mike Kane, who continues to teach part-time at the architecture school in London South Bank University, describes the direction of their more recent work: "We want our buildings to use less, make the best use of the site 'as found', and make the building's carbon footprint – its materials, construction, energy needs – as low as possible. And this is no sound bite. We all have no choice. How we use our available resources in this world is now critical."
