Waterloo Carnival 09
Aliens invaded Waterloo on Friday 10th July with a procession of over 250 people from the local community including pupils from Johanna Primary School and two other Lambeth primary schools, members of Waterloo Parents' and Carers' Network, Coin Street nursery and Blackfriars Settlement seniors' group. Many nearby office workers and local residents took to the streets to support and enjoy the festivities.

Alien themed activities took place throughout the day with mini alien museums from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, the Imperial War Museum and the BFI Southbank. The festivities carried on into the evening with Cubana gathering crowds to enjoy La Cuba Ritmo and The Walrus holding an evening hosted by Timberlina with competition give aways and two local bands playing live music.
We were delighted to hear that businesses in the area benefited from increased custom and to hear such positive feedback from those who attended on the day. We would like to thank the BFI Southbank for producing the education packs and marketing material and Solar Century for volunteering staff to help out on the day as well as volunteers from other Waterloo businesses. The event was sponsored by Friends of Waterloo Carnival, Waterloo Quarter BID, Johanna Primary School, Cubana, The Walrus Social, The BFI Southbank, Bankside Open Spaces Trust, Shell and Coin Street Community Builders.
