| Great Varsity Boat Race |
The local police have organised a Great Varsity Boat Race in partnership with Ovacome, the Ovarian Cancer Support Network. Waterloo Quarter are inviting businesses in the BID area to enter this charity rowing race being held on the 29th September 2009 next to the Shell Centre on the South Bank. Sign up a team to race against other local businesses and police teams on a rowing machine race, over the distance of the Varsity boat Race. Why not try to beat the current course record of 16 mins 19 secs!
Each team can have up to 10 members to row the 4 miles and 374 yards. There is even the opportunity to dress up in the theme of your choosen ‘University’ such as the university of pint pullers.
Teams entering need to raise £500 through sponsorship or donation to participate. All monies raised will go to Ovacome who provide support and information for women affected by ovarian cancer, their families and friends. There will be a trophy for the team with the fastest time and for the team with the best university themed outfits.
