Street Clean and Gum Removal
This is one of many projects that Waterloo Quarter is operating to make Waterloo a cleaner more pleasant environment to do business in.

A hot washing service is currently being implemented on the streets of the BID area. The steam clean and chewing gum removal treatment of the pavements will take place on all the main throughfares, including Waterloo Road, The Cut, Kennington Road, Lower Marsh, Westminster Bridge Road and Blackfriars Road.

In addition to the street cleaning a pavement treatment called GumStop is going to be applied to the pavements in Waterloo Road, Westminster Bridge Road and Kennington Road. This was trialled last year on an area of Lower Marsh and proved a success. GumStop protects the pavement from weathering and helps surfaces remain clean by repelling chewing gum, water, airborne dirt, acid rain, smog, industrial pollutants, oil and grease. This means that rain water will remove most stains as the dirt is prevented from sticking to the pavement. The hot washing, gum removal and GumStop treatment is a service which is not provided by the Council.
