| Bishop's Ward Licensing Forum |
|
On Thursday 19th February the first meeting of the Bishop's Ward Licensing Forum took place at the Walrus Social. The meeting was attended by 7 local licensees and representatives from the Police and the Council.
The forum promoted lively discussion, with all parties sharing concerns and strategies for improving safety, service and relationships in the local area. Issues discussed ranged from license reviews, police presence on the street and the possibility of setting up a local Radio Link Scheme. The forum was created in response to complaints raised by local residents about the conduct of local licensed premises in the area, which have resulted in a number being put under review. Local residents' associations have mobilised the support of ward Councillors, the local MPs as well as the Mayor's office, to try to place restrictions on existing licenses and to severely limit or even prevent the issuing of new licenses in the Waterloo area. The forum seeks to give support and create a formal voice for the licensed sector to respond to issues that affect them.
All licensed premises are welcome to join the forum. If you would like any more information please call us on 020 7620 1201 email info@waterlooquarter.org.
