As part of the launch of The Cut's new look and WQBA's recent successful ballot to extend across the borough boundary into Southwark, the BID has secured funding from The Cut project for the installation of 20 new planted hanging baskets on the street. Going forward, the baskets will be maintained by WQBA as part of its existing hanging baskets project.
The BID arranged for the installation of 152 baskets throughout the Lambeth section in 2006, brightening up the area significantly. However, with the borough boundary cutting through the middle of The Cut, the hanging baskets did not extend along the full length of the street. However, following the successful result of the ballot to extend our area and take in the more natural commercial area of Waterloo, WQBA is now in a position to roll out more projects such as the hanging baskets across the boundary into Southwark to benefit its new member businesses.
