New janitorial service in Waterloo

Lambeth Council have unveiled plans to introduce a new ‘janitorial' service to the Waterloo area in an attempt to boost environmental quality across the borough.

The Janitors, working in close partnership with existing Lambeth Environmental Monitoring Officers, will have three main roles:

  • Patrolling the area in electric buggies, ensuring the emptying and cleaning of bins, removal of flyposting and small scale graffiti
  • Offering advice to residents and the business community on environmental quality issues such as waste collections
  • Using new technologies, Janitors will be able to report issues in real time to a variety of departments within the authority as well as other organisations such as TfL, ensuring a quick and efficient response.

The scheme is currently under consultation. Look out for updates on further developments coming soon.
