Mervyn King In Lower Marsh Market

The Governor of the Bank of England visited Lower Marsh Market on Thursday, December 15.

Mervyn King spent 20 minutes in Waterloo as part of his ongoing commitment to helping pupils at Johanna Primary School understand businesses.

In June Mr King spoke to pupils at the school about mathematics, and gave them each £10 to invest.

The schoolchildren then bought cooking ingredients and sold biscuits at their summer fayre.

Mr King heard of their success and vowed to return, and last month he visited the Baker’s Brilliant Brownies stall to hear about the Year 6 pupils’ experiences of going in to business.

The visit was supported by Waterloo Quarter, market operator Westminster Artisans and by local design company Strudel, who designed a logo for the cookies and helped to promote the stall.
