The London Olympics will run from July 27th - August 12th 2012 and the Paralympics will run from August 29th - September 9th.

Twenty million extra trips will be made within London during the 2012 Games, including three million on the busiest day, and 80 per cent of spectators will travel via rail (including the Underground).

If your business is to run smoothly during the Games, you need to prepare.

As a business owner you should:

- Check you and your staff are aware of Olympic and Paralympic dates
- View Olympic Route maps online at http://www.london2012.com/olympic-route-network/home.html to see if your business will be affected
- Decide to what extent you and your staff need to travel in summer 2012
- Encourage your staff to investigate alternate means of getting into work
- Speak with your staff, customers and suppliers to see how they could be affected by the Games
- Find out if deliveries and collection times could be changed to avoid delays due to congestion
- Create an Action Plan now as to how you will prepare for the Games
- Test any plans you put in place early to check they will work
- Communicate your plans to everyone they may affect
